Xander Spronken was born in Maastricht, Holland, in 1956. From an early age he was attracted by iron, and began to study sculpture at the Stadsacademie in Maastricht and later went on to improve his knowledge in the Fachhochschule for design in Aachen, Germany.

Master smith, his work is carried out entirely in forged iron; he has exhibited in galleries in Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, England, Spain, Canada and the United States.

His technical knowledge of forging and his distinct personality give his work a very special characteristic and makes it one of the most particular artistic experiences of our time.
